Synology DSM 6: How to install Homebridge using DOCKER
Let’s dive in to install Homebridge for a Synology NAS DS 218+ – Now there are 2 ways to do it. The Docker Way or the manual package way. I’ll cover both starting with the Docker and you can jump to the manual package way (7min 42secs) as well. All in all there are 10 Steps for Docker and 2 Steps for the Manual Package way to complete this Installation. Lets go straight into it and I’ll show you on how to have the service up and running. Its very important to get till the UI so that we can install & update the Homebridge service as well as the device plugins with out any stress or multiple manual commands.

The 10 Steps – Docker Way:
1. Download Docker
2. Download Text Editor – Just in case you want manually the config.json file
3. Download Homebridge
4. Launch Homebridge
5. Enable Restart for the container
6. Add a Folder within the Docker Folder
7. Under Network – Enable Use as Same Network
8. Under Environment – Add Hostname – ( You can get this from the info center under Server
9. Enable Config UI – Change Value to 1
10. Copy & Paste IP Link
The 2 Steps – Manual Package Way:
1. Download & Manual Install .spk
2. Select YES to enable UI
For Any Update Issues:
1. Go to registry and download latest version of the docker image again
2. Go to your container and stop it
3. Clear the container from the action menu
4. Start the container
